The Vickers VC10 and the Ilyushin Il-62 are both long-range, narrow-body jet airliners, but they have key differences. The VC10, developed by the British company Vickers-Armstrongs, features a distinctive rear-mounted engine configuration with four engines, two on each side of the tail, which provided better performance on shorter runways.
