John Wayne Wilson was involved in the murder of Brazilian journalist and television personality, Flávio Cavalcanti, in 1978. Wilson, an American, was accused of strangling Cavalcanti in a hotel in New York City. He died by suicide in his jail cell in 1979 before he could stand trial for the crime.
