During World War II, Ferrari was primarily involved in the production of war-related goods. Enzo Ferrari's company, Auto Avio Costruzioni, which was a precursor to Ferrari, manufactured machine tools and aircraft parts for the Italian government. In 1943, the factory was moved from Modena to Maranello, where it was later bombed in 1944, but it was rebuilt and resumed production after the war.
